Worldwide Quilting Day 2025 from From My Carolina Home

In spite of being the chair of the committee for this event, it was a fun day. All the planning and help made for an enjoyable day. The votes were counted the day after the show, and the winners announced at our guild meeting yesterday. We set up early in the day so we were open at 10 am when the mall stores opened. Voting was by viewers. The guild gives prizes to five places, and the winners were all extraordinary.

Let’s start with one that my friend Gail made. It didn’t win a ribbon, but it was ...

Quilting Day Challenge Project from From My Carolina Home

Tomorrow is our Worldwide Quilting Day challenge exhibit, so I can show you my entry now. It took me several weeks to get this done as there is a lot of detail in it. When we got the challenge fabric, I had an idea of what I wanted to do. Now, understand that I am on the committee and had a say in the challenge fabric. I thought the print of hats, presents and balloons would go great with the challenge of “It’s My Birthday!” The first person to get in line made a big stink out of the ...

Getting in Some Sewing from From My Carolina Home

Seems like this week got away from me in a hurry. Cleaning out my closet took a couple of hours on Monday, then I was able to have a day of fun on Tuesday with Virtual Retreat. Thank goodness for that! Wednesday was full of appointments and meetings, as was yesterday. With the snow storm set to arrive overnight tonight, a trip to the store was in order as well. The good part of the two board meetings was both were accompanied by a sushi meal – one lunch and one dinner. Yum!

Colder days mean hot soup for lunch at ...

Guild Meeting and a Bit of Sewing from From My Carolina Home

Our guild meeting was this week, and our Worldwide Quilting Day committee could finally announce the theme. The theme is “It’s My Birthday!” I got the three of us little birthday crowns at the dollar store, and we found this great party theme fabric at Foust for the challenge fabric.

My friend, Gail, made this great board to have at the table where we were selling the fabrics. Participants can use the gemstones and/or flowers of their birth month, their zodiac sign, their favorite cake or meal, a memory of their best birthday, or their vision of the ...

Celebrating Worldwide Quilting Day from Fat Quarter Shop's Jolly Jabber

Happy (almost) Worldwide Quilting Day!  It’s a day where we can celebrate our stashes, throw piecing parties, and go on wild sewing sprees.  We have designed a fun new pattern to commemorate the occasion.  It’s called World Piece (because who doesn’t want that?) and we made ours with Pin Drop by Christopher Thompson for Riley Blake Designs.  It’s the cutest basic line for quilters, and of course we have a World Piece Quilt Kit if this version “seams” perfect for you!

In addition to the free pattern, we are launching a Worldwide Quilting Day contest! We ...

Worldwide Quilting Day! (Whitney, TX) 21 march from QuiltinCats

March 19 was the first day of Spring and with Spring comes hope.
I am hoping I am finding you and your family members doing well during these uncertain times.

Thanks to social media, I have many quilting friends living around the world.  So today, I thought I would take a break from all the news to celebrate Worldwide Quilting Day on March 21.  Quilt Alliance is celebrating National Quilting Day through their Facebook page.  They are asking for your stories and pictures.
And if you happen to run out of supplies for Quilting Day.....okay, stop laughing and get ...
